Whale watching
The waters of the Pacific Ocean off San Diego are teeming with marine life. One of the most exciting ways to view it is on a whale-watching excursion. The gray whale migration runs from December through March on the Pacific Coast. Peak times in San Diego are mid-January, when up to 200 whales a day have been spotted. In summer, blue whales visit the waters. In addition to whales, see dolphins and sea lions. The whales can be spotted from vantage points on the coast, or close-up from boats.

San Diego Spirits Festival
The two-day event takes place midsummer and is meant to celebrate spirits, cocktails, and local culture. Held at the Port Pavilion near San Diego Bay, the Spirits Festival opens with the Chef/Bartender Showdown. Teams are made up of a chef and mixologist who are challenged to come up with the most rewarding plate/drink combination.
